Zim vs Ire 4th Match 17th October 2022

The fourth match of the T20 World Cup 2022 will have Zimbabwe taking on Ireland in a Group B fixture of the first round. The two teams will clash at Bellerive Oval in Hobart in the night fixture on Monday, October 17th.

Zimbabwe has done pretty well in the shorter format in recent times. They were the winners of the T20 World Cup qualifier Group B, held in July, where they remained unbeaten in the tournament. Zimbabwe topped their group and then defeated Papua New Guinea in the semi-final by 27 runs. In the final, they hammered the Netherlands by 37 runs.

Later, Zimbabwe hosted Bangladesh in a three-match T20I series, winning by 2-1. The Craig Ervine-led side played one warm-up match in Melbourne on October 11, in which they lost by 33 runs. Ireland also played one against Namibia, falling short by 11 runs.

Ireland has had plenty of action in the shorter format this year. They fought hard versus India in a 2-0 series loss at home in June before losing all three against New Zealand. They lost both the games in Bristol against South Africa as well. In August, Ireland hosted Afghanistan in a five-match series, clinching it by 3-2.
