ISU vs LHQ 26th Match 9th March 2023

On 9th March 2023, the 26th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023 season was played between Islamabad United (ISU) and Lahore Qalandars (LHQ) at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. LHQ won the toss and elected to bat first.

LHQ’s openers, Fakhar Zaman and Sohail Akhtar got the team off to a good start, with both scoring half-centuries. However, once they were dismissed, the rest of the LHQ batting line-up struggled against the ISU bowlers. In the end, LHQ managed to post a total of 168 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs.

In response, ISU got off to a shaky start, losing wickets at regular intervals. Opener Alex Hales top-scored with 44 runs off 29 balls, but the rest of the ISU batting line-up failed to fire. LHQ’s bowlers bowled well, with spinner Rashid Khan and pacer Shaheen Afridi picking up two wickets each. In the end, ISU fell short of the target, managing only 148 runs in their 20 overs, handing LHQ a 20-run victory.

Overall, it was a well-deserved win for LHQ, with their batsmen and bowlers both performing well. The win takes them to the third spot on the PSL 2023 points table, while ISU remains in second place.
